László Tóth finished 7th on the main race of Formula 4 category on Sunday at Motorsport Games in Vallelunga circuit near Rome.
The 19 years old hungarian driver was 4th on Saturday on the qualification race, therefore he started the final race of the category from this position. All the drivers had to use wet tyres according to the decision of race control but the circuit was almost dry after the rain during the night and the morning.
After the start of the 30 minutes race Tóth lost six positions until the end of the first lap mostly because his german opponent made an agressive maneuvre against him.
During the following laps the hungarian lost two more positions but the drivers between 8th and 13th were in big battle with each other. Tóth came up to 10th but the Safety Car came in because of an accident.
There were seven minutes to go when the Safety Car left the field and the re-start went on without problems. Tóth overtook one opponent and in the last lap he took advantage of the mistakes of the others in front of him and finished 7th.
I made a good start and I felt that I will have a nice chance to overtake Niklas, but he pushed me onto the grass in the straight so I had to slow down a little and some of the others overtook me
– said Tóth after the race.
I was a little bit angry so I needed some laps to regain concentration but of course I’m happy because I managed to come back from 13th to 7th.
– said Tóth.
The Formula 4 main race was won by italian Andrea Rosso. Niklas Kruetten from Germany finished 2nd and finnish William Alatalo was 3rd.
