There will be a Hungarian driver in the 2021 FIA Formula 3 Championship, since László Tóth continues his career racing for Campos Racing Team, which has great heritage in motorsport. The 20 years old driver signed a contract for one year and optionally, the term of the contract might be extended with another year.
László Tóth’s name became well known for the Hungarian motorsport community with his participation at the 2019 FIA Motorsport Games, when in Vallelunga he achieved the best results of the Hungarian delegation in the Formula 4 Cup with a 4th and 7th position.
Tóth started his career with karting, then he changed to Formula 4 and drove in a variety of series including the Italian, Spanish and German championships. Last year he was racing in the Formula Renault Eurocup. At the end of the season, Campos Racing provided him with two test opportunities. Afterwards, they signed for the 2021 F3 season.
„I’m very pleased and honoured to continue my career at a team with such great heritage. I’d like to continue going forward step by step, just like I did before. This will be my first F3 season, obviously the main goals are to develop and gain as much experience as possible.” – commented Tóth.
This year started with a devastating loss for Campos Racing, as the founder, Adrián Campos passed away at the age of 60, on 27th January. „It has been a tremendous hit, obviously for me as his son, but also for everyone inside the team, we need to move forward and continue his legacy. He was already preparing us for a transition, he wanted to enjoy racing again without so much responsibility, so in the team we all had very clear his indications of what he wanted for the future of the team. Everyone is now more motivated than ever and with Laszlo completing our line up together with Amaury and Lorenzo I am sure we will make him proud of his team wherever he is”– said Adrián Campos Jr.
The 2021 Formula 3 grid is not complete yet, at Campos Racing the Italian Lorenzo Colombo and the Belgian Amaury Cordeel will be the teammates for László Tóth.
According to the 2021 F3 calendar, the Championship will open on 7th May, at Circuit de Catalunya, near Barcelona, followed by the French round in June, Austria in July, and Mogyoród – Hungaroring in August. The competiton will resume – still in August – in Belgium at Spa-Francochamps, and in the Netherlands – Zandvoort in September. The season will conclude in the USA, Austin (TX) on 22-24 October. All seven rounds are support events of the FIA Formula One World Championship. There will be three races per round, 40 minutes each, two of them organised on Saturdays and one on Sundays, which means drivers will complete 21 races during the season.
