László Tóth had a difficult weekend in Imola, where the secound round of the Formula Renault Eurocup 2020 season was held. The hungarian driver of Bhaitech Racing was unable to score points and he did not repeat his top10 finish from Monza.
The field which was consisted of 20 cars in Imola had the chance to test the setups on Thursday before the race weekend. The Imola circuit was fully new for Tóth who has never raced here before even in Formula 4.
He has learned how to drive on the track but during the free practices on Friday Bhaitech seemed to struggling a litte with the pace compared to the other teams.
The cars of Bhaitech did not improve significantly to Saturday when the first qualifying session and the first race of the weekend was held.
Tóth had to start the race from P18 but the race pace wasn’t good enough and he reached the chequered flag on P16.
We did not find the real reason of our lack of pace and we had a big gap on the straights to the opponents. We really tried every little thing even on Friday but this doesn’t lead to success
– said the 20 years old hungarian.
Tóth then had to face with some techical issues on Sunday. He had to try to run a good lap time with a broken flap on his car’s front wing on qualifying but ended up on P20. During the race the clutch in his car went wrong so the hungarian finished again on P16.
I have to say that this was a bad weekend for me and all in all difficult for the team. We did not have the pace to catch the others in front of us and the technical issues were also frustrating for me on Sunday so it’s better now to forget what happened here and try to focus on the next round at the beginnig of September at Nürburgring
– said Tóth who is 14th in the overall classification with 6 points.
The Formula Renault Eurocup’s field will have a summer break now and the season will continue on the first weekend of September.
