László Tóth finished outside of the points at Nürburgring on both of the races of the third round of Formula Renault Eurocup. The hungarian driver of Bhaitech Racing thinks that he and his team did a step forward during the weekend which was quite positive despite some things that ruled out the chance of scoring points.
The field had the chance on Thursday, before the official race weekend, to do some collective test runs on the circuit but in the afternoon the rain caused some problems for the teams as they were unable to run the cars on dry.
Tóth felt that they kept improving on Friday’s free practices, but he said that he could have done a better job in the afternoon on the first qualifying session of the weekend.
„On Saturday we did the second quali in the morning where I was close to P10 but then on my last flying lap I did a mistake while everyone else improved, therefore I lost some positions”
– said Tóth who was 16th on Friday’s and 15th on Saturday’s qualifying respectively.
During the qualifying on Saturday the field did a really close battle as the 10th and 15th was separated by only four tenths of a second.
The first race started well for Tóth who had a good start and tried to overtake two or three cars in front of him but during the battle he left the track two times and lost positions.
„I started catching back up and was at the end of the pack few minutes before the end but then I did a mistake overpushing the car and went off”
– said Tóth who finished on P16.
The second race was held on Sunday morning and the hungarian driver of Bhaitech did a nice start again but the front wing on his car suddenly broke.
„This caused a lot of understeer for me and with that I lost some time from lap to lap”
– commented Tóth after fininshing on P14.
Lorenzo Colombo, driving for Bhaitech, was 2nd and 5th respectively on the two races of the weekend, while Vicky Piria in the third car of the team finished 17th and 15th.
„Overall I think we did a step forward this weekend and I think it was quite positive despite some of the things that has happened”
– said László Tóth after the race weekend.
The Formula Renault Eurocup’s field will race again on this weekend as the 4th round of the championship takes place in Magny-Cours, France.
